How to set up your Tron wallet: Is MetaMask an option?

For anyone who is interested in the TRON (TRX) cryptocurrency you need to acquire a wallet that supports TRX. This will enable you to store, transfer, and receive TRON tokens as easily and efficiently as possible. However, it is recommended that you select a wallet that supports TRON.

The Tron itself has an official wallet but people use other wallets such as Tron Link or Token Pocket. These wallets have other attributes such as voting for the Super Representatives and accessing decentralised applications (dApps) on the TRON platform.

However, it is crucial to understand that while MetaMask is one of the Ethereum wallets designed for using ERC 20 tokens, it has no compatibility with TRON or TRC 20 tokens. Therefore it cannot be recommended as a TRON wallet.

Below is the process of creating a TRON wallet in case you are interested in doing it:

1. Go to TronLink official website https://www.tronlink.org/
2. Click the download button

      3. On the download details page click on the extension tab            

      4.  Click on the TronLink icon on your browser              

     5. Click on the create a new wallet link          

       6.  Enter your new password and click the create wallet button              

       7. Backup your wallet and never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone!              

       8.  Once you’ve successfully created your wallet, you should see a similar screen like below
