While XRP is fast and relatively cheap to use, there's always a trade-off when it comes to speed. XRP is centralized and they can technically freeze your coins if they wanted to.

Also there's always change that Ripple could be just shut down because it's not decentralized.

XRP and the XRP Ledger are open-source technology that anyone can build on. My opinion: The technology of XRP is amazing, and it is indeed faster, cheaper and more scalable than most of the existing decentralized chains (like Bitcoin or Ethereum).
